Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin
Coconut Oil
Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24 hours of harvest) from small family farms. The fresh coconut meat is shredded (wet milled), and then cold-pressed to make coconut milk. The milk is then fermented for 24-36 hours, and the oil is separated and filtered from the curds. No chemical or high-heat treatment is used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids. We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used here for hundreds of years. Our coconut trees and family producers are certified organic according to strict USDA standards. This high-grade virgin coconut oil has a long shelf life due to coconut oil's natural anti-oxidant properties. It has the longest shelf life of any plant oil! Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin Coconut Oil 32 ounces...........$25.00 Tropical Traditions Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil This coconut oil is processed by what is known as physical
refining. Unlike other coconut oils that are processed the "modern way" by
chemical extraction, using solvent extracts which produce higher yields and is
quicker and less expensive, Tropical Traditions expeller-pressed coconut oil
DOES NOT use chemicals or solvent extracts. It is made the
"old-fashioned" way by expeller-pressed mechanical extraction. This oil is NOT hydrogenated, and contains NO trans-fatty acids. It is a very good quality coconut oil suitable for all your cooking needs. Tropical Traditions Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil is made from coconuts that have NOT been treated with chemicals or fertilizers. It is 100% natural. It is high in the medium chain fatty acids, such as Lauric Acid. This is the type of oil that billions of people in Asia consume on a daily basis, where thyroid disease and obesity are rare as compared to the US. It has also been seen recently that Asian countries with high coconut oil consumption, such as the Phillipines, have not seen the kinds of outbreak in SARS that other Asian countries have where vegetable oils are the primary dietary oil. Expeller Pressed Coconut oil is less expensive than Virgin Coconut Oil, and because it goes through a charcoal-filter deodorizing process the taste is very bland, making it perfect for cooking. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept intact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Coconut Oil is also great for digestive disorders such as Crohn's Disease, IBS and Colitis. It is a powerful agent in killing intestinal parasites. Thyroid sufferers are finding that Coconut Oil boosts the metabolism and raises body temperatures. And there is exciting research showing that the MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides) in Coconut Oil act to kill Candida Albicans! These MCTs are also responsible for revving up metabolism and giving energy, which holds promise for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers, as well as others who need to boost their energy. It is also highly valued as an ingredient in natural soaps, massage oils and skin care products. Dr. Mary Enig suggests the average adult include about 3.5 tablespoons of Coconut Oil per day in their diet. This would equal the amount of lauric acid a newborn infant receives daily while breastfeeding. Human milk is the only other abundant source of lauric acid in nature. There are many ways to use Coconut Oil and incorporate it into one's diet. Since it is a stable cooking oil, one can simply replace unhealthy oils in their diet with Coconut Oil. Since it is a solid most of the time at room temperature or when refrigerated, it can be used as a spread or for baking. Any recipe calling for butter, margarine, or any other oil can be substituted with Coconut Oil.
